HBX Group has announced a new partnership with Mastercard to launch a virtual payment programme aimed at improving how travel intermediaries manage supplier payments globally.
The programme is built on the Mastercard Wholesale Programme, a virtual card solution designed for high-volume B2B travel transactions. It will allow travel sellers to make secure, automated payments to suppliers while improving reconciliation, cash-flow visibility, and fraud protection.
According to HBX Group, payment management remains one of the most complex operational challenges in travel distribution, with intermediaries often handling multiple currencies, payment methods, and settlement timelines. The new solution is designed to simplify these processes by linking each booking directly to a virtual card transaction.
Faster Payouts and Automated Reconciliation
Through the virtual payment programme, travel partners will be able to:
- Process instant supplier payouts
- Automatically track and reconcile transactions
- Reduce manual payment handling
- Improve financial visibility and operational efficiency
The solution also offers enhanced security, as virtual cards are generated for specific transactions, reducing exposure to fraud and unauthorized use.
Industry Collaboration
HBX Group said the partnership strengthens its technology ecosystem by expanding beyond travel inventory into financial services. Mastercard, meanwhile, highlighted the role of virtual payments in accelerating the digitisation of B2B travel transactions and improving trust between intermediaries and suppliers.
Initial Markets and Expansion Plans
The virtual payment programme will initially be available to partners in Europe, the UK, and the United States. HBX Group and Mastercard plan to expand the solution to Asia-Pacific in early 2026, followed by Latin America.
The launch reflects a growing industry focus on embedded payment solutions as travel distribution platforms seek to reduce friction, improve efficiency, and scale globally.
