Travelport Signs Long-Term Deal with EGYPTAIR, Adding NDC Alongside EDIFACT

Travelport and EGYPTAIR have signed a long-term distribution agreement covering both EDIFACT and NDC content. Travelport-connected agencies will keep their existing access to EGYPTAIR through established EDIFACT channels, while gaining new access to NDC-enabled content and ancillaries as EGYPTAIR rolls it out.

The content will be available through both Smartpoint, Travelport’s booking application, and TripServices, its cloud-native API platform, with Travelport applying the same normalized, curated content layer regardless of which channel agencies use.

EGYPTAIR VP Commercial Amr Adawy said the agreement lets the carrier extend its reach to Travelport’s agency network with a broader product set while maintaining its traditional distribution channels. Travelport’s Damian Hickey, Global Head of Travel Partners, framed the deal as part of the wider industry shift toward dual-track EDIFACT/NDC distribution.

No financial terms, volume figures, or NDC rollout timeline were disclosed.

The deal adds EGYPTAIR to the list of African and Middle Eastern carriers formalizing parallel NDC and EDIFACT access with the major GDSs, a pattern that continues to define the pace and shape of distribution modernization across TDN’s Second-Speed Market coverage.
