South African Airways has signed a domestic codeshare agreement with CemAir, expanding the availability of its network across additional destinations in South Africa.
The partnership will allow South African Airways to place its flight code on selected CemAir-operated services, enabling the routes to be sold as part of a single itinerary through the airline’s sales channels. The agreement ensures that the combined services will be accessible through both direct booking platforms and indirect distribution channels, including travel agencies.
Through the arrangement, travel sellers will be able to book connecting journeys under the South African Airways code, with coordinated ticketing and servicing. Passengers traveling on codeshare itineraries will benefit from through-check-in, baggage transfer to their final destination, and integrated customer support across the journey.
The agreement extends South African Airways’ reach to a number of secondary domestic markets that are not currently served by its own aircraft, strengthening its network presence without additional fleet deployment. For CemAir, the partnership provides broader market visibility and access to a wider customer base through South African Airways’ established distribution network.
The codeshare is expected to support connectivity between major hubs and regional destinations, improving access for both business and leisure travelers. By enabling the two carriers’ services to be marketed under a single commercial framework, the agreement enhances inventory availability across the domestic market.
The partnership forms part of South African Airways’ ongoing efforts to rebuild and expand its operations through strategic collaborations as the carrier continues to restore its position in the domestic and regional aviation sector.
