TerraPay has entered into a multi-year agreement with Sabre Corporation to support instant cross-border payment capabilities within the Sabre Direct Pay platform, the companies announced.
Under the partnership, travel agencies, airlines, and hotels using Sabre Direct Pay will be able to send real-time bank transfers through TerraPay’s global payment network. The infrastructure enables payouts to more than 155 countries, covering over 7.5 billion bank accounts and 3.7 billion mobile wallets.
The integration expands the range of settlement options available to travel sellers and suppliers, particularly for transactions conducted across international markets.
Sabre Direct Pay is designed to allow agencies to transfer funds directly to suppliers using multiple payment methods beyond traditional card transactions. By connecting the platform to TerraPay’s network, the solution will support instant bank transfers rather than standard international banking timelines, which can take several days depending on the market and payment route.
Cross-border settlement remains a complex process for many travel businesses. A significant portion of business-to-business travel payments is handled outside card networks and processed through conventional banking systems, where delays, reconciliation requirements, and currency-related factors can affect operational efficiency.
According to the companies, the integration provides a single connection for sending funds globally, with the aim of simplifying payment workflows between travel sellers and suppliers operating in multiple regions.
“Sabre Direct Pay continues to scale its global footprint and capabilities,” said Patricio Boccardo, Managing Director of Sabre Payments. “Adding TerraPay’s network means travel suppliers can access instant payments in over 155 countries, supporting faster settlements and improved cash flow.”
Travel suppliers operating internationally often face additional requirements related to currency conversion, regulatory compliance, and differences between local banking systems. Payment providers and distribution platforms have increasingly introduced alternative settlement options as cross-border travel commerce expands.
The agreement also reflects ongoing growth in non-card payment usage within the travel sector. While card payments remain widely used, bank transfers and local payment methods continue to account for a substantial share of supplier settlements, particularly in markets where card infrastructure is limited.
TerraPay operates a cross-border payments network regulated across multiple markets and provides infrastructure connecting banks, digital wallets, and financial institutions.
“Partnering with Sabre Direct Pay connects TerraPay to one of the most influential networks in global travel,” said Valli Ardalan, Senior Vice President and Head of Europe at TerraPay. “Our infrastructure is designed to support instant and secure money movement across borders.”
The enhanced Direct Pay capabilities are being rolled out globally. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
As international travel transactions increase, distribution platforms and payment providers are continuing to add settlement capabilities alongside booking and content services.
