Travelport has announced a significant shift in its operating model in Southern Africa, marking what the company describes as an exciting new era for travel technology delivery across the region.
Effective from February 2026, Travelport’s Southern Africa operations will be managed under a newly established regional operator partnership formed by Real Time Travel Connections (RTTC) and SevenC Computing. The partnership will operate under the brand Travelport Southern Africa, combining Travelport’s global technology platform with deep local market expertise.
RTTC and SevenC have worked alongside Travelport in Southern Africa for more than a decade, supporting travel agencies and suppliers with technology, distribution, and operational services. Under the new model, the focus shifts toward a more locally driven approach, designed to improve responsiveness, strengthen customer support, and deliver solutions that better reflect the specific needs of Southern African travel sellers.
According to Travelport, the move represents a strategic evolution in how global travel technology companies engage with regional markets. By empowering a locally rooted operator while maintaining access to Travelport’s global infrastructure, the company aims to offer greater flexibility, faster innovation cycles, and more tailored service delivery for agencies in the region.
As part of the transition, a dedicated Travel Service and Technology Hub of Excellence will be established in Johannesburg. The hub is intended to support innovation, training, and customer service, acting as a regional centre for technology delivery and operational excellence.
Travelport has indicated that the transition will be seamless for existing customers, with no disruption to current services. Instead, agencies are expected to benefit from enhanced regional support, stronger local engagement, and closer collaboration as the new operating structure takes effect.
The development reflects a broader trend in travel distribution, where global technology providers increasingly combine international platforms with regional partnerships to drive relevance, adoption, and long-term growth in emerging and fast-evolving travel markets.
