African mobility and travel platform Treepz has launched flight booking services, allowing users to book flights to over 210 destinations worldwide directly on its platform.
According to a LinkedIn post by Treepz Founder and CEO Onyeka Akumah, the launch marks a major milestone in the company’s evolution into a fully integrated travel platform. Customers can now search, pay for, and receive flight tickets instantly, including international routes to destinations such as the UK, UAE, United States, Canada, Kenya, and South Africa, as well as domestic flights across Nigeria.
Akumah described the development as a “full-circle moment,” referencing his early career as one of the first employees at Wakanow during the launch of West Africa’s first online travel agency, and later founding Travelbeta, now one of Nigeria’s largest OTAs.
Since rebranding from Plentywaka to Treepz in 2021, the company has expanded beyond urban mobility into corporate travel solutions, responding to demand from its more than 6 million users for a unified travel experience. The introduction of flight bookings comes amid growing travel volumes across Africa, driven by leisure travel, cultural events, and increased international connectivity.
The new flight booking feature includes:
- Instant booking with immediate ticket issuance
- Global access to over 210 destinations
- Seamless card-based payments
Looking ahead, Akumah stated that Treepz plans to further expand its travel offering, with hotel bookings and expanded car rental services expected as part of its roadmap toward 2026.
The move positions Treepz among a growing number of African technology companies reshaping travel distribution, aiming to reduce fragmentation and simplify the booking experience for travelers across the continent.
