EGYPTAIR has selected Accelya’s FLX Select to accelerate its NDC deployment and improve how it presents ancillaries and bundles across indirect channels, the two companies announced on 3 November. The agreement covers connectivity with travel agencies, distribution partners and aggregators, and is described as a foundation for the carrier’s move towards modern airline retailing.
FLX Select is Accelya’s standardised NDC programme. Launched in 2024, it packages a defined set of capabilities and a consistent deployment, and Accelya says airlines can generate offers and create orders through NDC within 90 days. It sits within the FLX ONE platform, which spans offer, order, settlement and delivery, and the release says airlines can adopt those capabilities progressively. Other carriers have chosen it, including Ethiopian Airlines in November 2025 and Airlink, its first customer.
Amr Adawy, EGYPTAIR’s VP Commercial, describes the agreement as a milestone in the carrier’s digital journey, reflecting its commitment to new technology, a better customer experience and wider revenue sources. Andrew Wilcock, Accelya’s Chief Commercial Officer, says the aim is to give airlines more control over how their products reach the market and more opportunities for revenue growth. The release ties the timing to EGYPTAIR’s fleet expansion plans through 2030, which bring more capacity and a larger international network.
EGYPTAIR is not starting from zero on NDC, which makes the agreement worth reading closely. Its retailing system, an NDC portal and API, is powered by TPConnects, which launched the carrier’s NDC content on its Iris aggregator in September 2025. In July, TPConnects and EGYPTAIR said the airline had become the first in the Middle East and Africa to deploy NDC 24.4 in production, on TPConnects’ Astra platform, and Travelport announced a long-term agreement with the carrier covering both EDIFACT and NDC content. The Accelya announcement does not say how FLX Select will sit alongside any of this.
A reasonable reading is that EGYPTAIR is building its distribution from several providers at once, which is increasingly common for carriers that want reach across GDS, aggregator and direct agency routes. FLX Select could add standardised deployment, a different set of travel sellers and further merchandising tools to what is already live. The release promises richer offers and greater visibility of ancillaries and bundles, but it does not say which NDC content goes live first, through which channels, or when the first transactions are expected.
The wider pattern matters for Africa and the Middle East. Accelya’s FLX Select customers now include carriers in Ethiopia, Southern Africa and Egypt, which suggests demand for NDC through a packaged programme and not a long custom build. The release also describes the deal as laying foundations for the next phase of retailing, without saying whether EGYPTAIR has committed to the full offer and order path.
The Accelya agreement is another step in an NDC programme EGYPTAIR is already assembling from several partners. Several routes to agencies give the airline choice, and a standardised programme can speed up deployment. The measure of the deal will be whether it widens what agencies can buy from EGYPTAIR beyond what is already live, and how clearly the airline divides the work between its partners.
